anti pollution fault engine managment?

My 406 Executive, (petrol 2,0 litre) the anti pollution warning has came on.
What is the best advice on what to do to it?

just get a pp2000 scanner to verify the problem.pp2000 peugeot planner 2000 is a scanning device used to establish sensor related problems.its the best way to solve the problem

The last time I had this problem I found out that the flexi pipe connecting to the CAT was loose. After it was fixed I hadn't had a problem up until now - a year later!! It's driving me bonkers. Any suggestions on what else could be wrong with the damn thing would be highly appreciated

im the same with my 2001 406,,absolute nightmare ,wont go over 3000 revs.when engine dies i switch it off at key (sometimes clutch n free wheelin)and it starts again after ignition or bump starts. problem now is m.o.t fault lights mean fail in n.ireland,anti pollution on all the time+engine management..could e.r.g b the problem?

My 406 2.0 engine antipollution problem came on too. And each time that happens, it loses power and can't rev normally. I have tried servicing the engine and it stopped for some minutes and started again. I also dusted the air filter too. Is it a major problem or can it be fixed? I hope I can find some answers soon cos it really hurts, especially in the middle of traffic.

I have a 51 plate 406 Coupe and the Antipollution warning is on all the time. Peugeot garage have reset it and it came on after 3 days - even after the ECU was reset and all previous faults cleared from it. Aparently there is a known problem with non-Bosch spark plugs - but that made no difference. It's goung in again to get a diagnosis from France!

I'll keep you posted. In the meantime I'll change the air filter to see if it helps

I have had the same problem three times now with my 04 Reg 406 but I have not experienced any lack of power. The warning light stays on for a few days and then dissappears. At the moment the warning light is on and has been for two days now. The car is running normally. The last time this happened was during April last year. The warnig stayed for about five days. Since I am not loosing power, I am nor worried about it and I hope the warning light will disappear of it's own accord during the coming week.

2001 406 2.0i est petrol (mostly supermarket), same warning, tried without air filter, (foam should be at bottom by the way), no change, went around all visible electrical connectors at top and behind engine, seperated each and squirted with WD40 into plugs then remade, started engine and fault cleared.

yes i had the same problem i changed my air filter with one that did not have the foam and the fault came on, then changed it for one with foam and the fault went. strange but that was the problem.

I had this on my 02 plate 406. Read lots and lots of answers but what I did was to replace the air filter. I know it sounds stupid but I did it 6 months ago and have had no probs at all since. What I have noticed is there is a layer of foam on the top of the air filter - which was missing on the one I took out. As I said works a treat and done a further 6000 miles and no light. Try it you never know.
