Vauxhall Corsa Radio/cd?

Tried switching off the T.P. [radio traffic service}.It did not work.Will put a CD in the slot.If that does not work I will remove the fuse and buy a crystal set.

Hi I have 2010 vauxhall corsa it was in the Gargae the matrix has gone but it's fixed. But the problem am having is the sound volume it's very low and don't go any higher but i can turn the volume right down.

HI, I have a 54 plate corsa and its been doing it too. I noticed that next to the time displayed there is a little 'clock sign' with rds next to it..... I kept playing around with the buttons till I got this sign off..... so far it has not turned back on by itself. Its only been a couple of hours but mine was turning itself on within a few minutes everytime.... promising.

My wife has a 2004 Corsa, the radio CD player switches itself on randomly when the car is parked overnight discharging the battery. We are trying switching the radio off before turning off the ignition. Not yet certain this works.

I have 54 plate Meriva and have the same thing happen. The Vauxhall garage i went to could find nothing wrong and when i took it to get a new radio fitted they could not do it but no problem for a week after they tried.

Meanwhile i'm still stuck unable to leave my car without worrying that it won't start on my return.

I have an 03 plate Corsa and it has the same problem, its been going on for over a year now. The radio/ tape player do not work for weeks then come on at full volume at night (no key in the ignition) and I have a flat battery in the morning

My mum (84) has a 54 Corsa and she has the same problem!!! The vauxhall dealer also told her there was nothing they could do and she would have to buy another radio. This is shameful. I see that a lot of you have had the same fault. It happened to me once but after a service and the dealer saying there was no faults in the electrics it has been ok since then (touch wood). I have sent the problem to Watchdog in the hope that they will actually do something about it for us. I think I will make sure there is always a cd in it just in case

Have just tried inserting a CD and the radio turned itself off as soon as the ignition was turned off even with leaving the key in. Promissing!!!!!!!!

I have a 54 plate Vauxhal Corsa that also has a radio that switches itself on when car is unattended.

We cannot relie on the car to start in mornings as it will flatten battery on regular basis.

Also, as you will all no doubt be aware the Corsa battery cannot be removed without major work

Surely this must be a manufacturer recall

Removing the fuse to break the connection. Then keeping a CD in at all times seems to have cured my issue for 2 months now.

My radio kept coming on by itself every day when the key was taken out of the ignition.The battery was flat every couple of days and had to get the AA out to charge it up.When i went to vauxhalls all is they did was disconect the radio so mine doesnt work anymore.They said i could buy a new one not likely at £151.92 its only 4 years old dont think will get another vauxhall car.

I am having the same problem!!!! I have a 2006 Astra and the stupid radio has run my battery flat - couldn't go to work today! Rang RAC. Vauxhall haven't really got a clue how to fix it either - £100 for a new radio i've been quoted! I'm so MAD!!!! also contacted watchdog, its clearly a MASSIVE FAULT THAT VAUXHALL NEED TO SORT OUT!

Vauxhall Corsa C Life(2004) had the same problem a few days ago. My battery was flat in the morning and had to call the RAC. I remembered that previous night the radio was on in the car after my wife parked it. I switched it off but it must have switched itself back on thus falt battery in morning.

After RAC recharged the battery it was still happening. Radio switching on after I switched it off. I had to remove fuse to stop it. The radio display had "F" displayed. Since yesterday I've got a CD in the player and it seems to have stopped it happening so far. "F" has disapppeared from display. Here's hoping...

I have just bought my Astra and I am having radio turning on problems. has any one yet found out how this can be rectified? Who to speak to etc? My Auto electrician didn't know.

I have spoken to Vauxhall today and they will not help me whatsoever. The person i spoke to claimed not to know anything about the issue, despite the internet being riddled with complaints.

my 05 plate tigra is currently in the garage having been towed away on Monday as it would not start. My battery was flat and my alarm has been going off when i put the key in the ignition every so often. Apparently this is down to the electrical fault in the radio.

I rang my local vauxhall dealer earlier on and the receptionist told me the problem before i had even begun to explain which of course means they know all about it. However, the service desk woman then proceeded to deny all knowledge and the only response i could get was that it is out of warranty. I now propose to ring vauxhall HQ tomorrow morning to continue my fight! I will now be landed with a towing bill and repair bill as a result of their incompetence!

I would be well up for taking this to Watchdog and beyond as i am furious!

At first i thought it was a quirk and then a bit of an annoyance. Last night, however, i has out every 10 minutes to turn mine off in my 05 Astra. No longer a quirk or annoyance - i was furious.
I would happily join any proposed legal action as it's clearly a problem at point of manufacture of the radio and i shouldnt have to pay to rectify it. I will also raise with BBC Watchdog - if they have enough similar issues, they may take it up.

I have just Googled "Astra Radio switches on" and there are lots of people with this problem. Does any one want to join me in a court action for " latent defect" if we win Vauxhall will have to pay for ALL new radios.

If yes send yes to this site and if enough I will advertise in national paper.

I am having the same problem with an '05' reg that I bought in Aug 2008. For the duration of the three month warranty that came with the car it was fine! Then in November the radio starting coming on randomly until eventually we too had to call out the AA as the battery was flat. I tried using the key to lock the doors rather than the fob and this seemed to cure the problem for about 4-6 weeks until last night when I spent the early hours of the morning going back and forth to the car turning the radio off as it seems to come on at a high volume too even if you have turned it down before turning the engine off ??? Strangely there was no manual for the radio when I bought the car. Anyone know where I can get one? For the moment I am trying the CD method as described in an earlier post to see if that works.

I have this problem with my 54 reg which I bought last August. It doesn't happen all the time but sometimes I can turn it off twice in an evening and it will be on again in the morning. Last Wednesday I too had to get the RAC out to get me started. What I have tried since is locking the doors with the key instead of the fob and so far this seems to have cured the problem. Fingers crossed!!

i have just bought a 3 year old corsa and the same thing has happened - meaning that yesterday morning - one of the coldest of the year - the battery was a flat as a pancake!! had to call the aa out in the end!
the garage i bought the car from have contacted vauxhall and they say it is a radio fault - they have advised me to always keep a cd in as this stops the radio picking up random radio stations - i am trying this and keeping my fingers crossed that it works - even if it does i am still left with a faulty radio!!

same thing happened to me 14 days after the end of warranty, vauxhall have told me it is a radio fault and will req a new radio, until then ive just pulled the fuse on it to stop flattening the battery

sounds like you have a wiring problem so you need to take the radio out and look over the wires and see where it has a short i hope this has been some help or you could contact me for more info or i could come and do this job for you depends on where you are in the uk. please email me with a number n i will get back to u stewbarthorpe@hotmail.com
